As a chicken wing aficionado, it would be a shame if I never reviewed this place, the birthplace of Buffalo chicken wings, which has been recreated countless times by restaurants and bars around the world. Although I've counted many other as my go-to wings places, I would always consider visiting the original Anchor Bar as a pilgrimage of sort.
Sure, the place can be a tourist trap, and service may suffer when there are a lot of tourists dining. I sometimes struggled to get the server's attention. There are multiple dining rooms that are separated, so there is always the sense that servers are spread thin trying to cover them all.
As for food, the chicken wings soup is a staple starter. It reminds me of clam chowder, without clams, but with all the comfort it comes with. The cheese pizza, usually a table favourite, was a bit disappointing during our visit, not enough cheese, no typical cheese pull, and a bit overcooked for our taste. But the chicken wings, that's what we came for! We usually go for medium Buffalo wings (the OG), which never disappoint! Just mildly spicy, but the taste is well balanced.
I don't always stop at Anchor every time I'm in Buffalo, but when I have guests over, the pilgrimage must go on!

We loved it. We were there for the wings. Loved the original medium flavor and wings. Awesome service. In town for family. Had never been. Had to go to the home of inventing Buffalo Wings. Had her also try Beef on Weck for the first time. Better Weck in town, but was there for wings. The Bloody Mary with a chicken wing in it was great too. Nostalgic, trendy, place to visit for visitors. Fun and great staff.

Always a fun experience with great wings. If you have ever craved a great wing then this is your destination. Add to this the history / unique atmosphere and you have a home run. A must visit for all diners.

We came with a group to try out the speciality of the place - Buffalo wings chicken 🍗 and it was … just fine.
I wasn’t amazed by it but my parents liked it - and I guess that’s the most important thing. It is definitely worth to go if you want to tell the stories afterwards - done that, been there, tried it. But it’s not a place to which I would come back (and it’s not because I don’t live near by)

Honestly best buffalo wings I’ve ever tried not joking. The original sauce so good and we also got the bourbon bbq which was delicious as well. The wings came out crunchy but tender it was another level. We also got potatoes skins they come with mozzarella cheese and bacon very good too. If you are around the area definitely have to try this spot
